Dump Windows for Linux, says PCWorld

Interesting article from PC World (!) giving 10 reasons why you should dump Windows for Linux. Although I agree on pretty much all of the points, and we here at Adaris work mainly with Linux-based solutions, I don’t like the “either/or” approach to building a network; it’s not “either” Windows “or” Linux.

It should be “best-of-breed”. In other words, select the best platform for the job. That way, you get the best of both worlds (for those of you with teenage daughters, I apologize for sounding like Hannah Montana!).

Almost all of the Novell solutions that we talk to customers about are “eco-friendly”, in the sense that they will work in any environment: identity management, access management, endpoint management, patch & asset management, etc – they all run natively in Microsoft/Active Directory environments! That’s the Gospel that Adaris has been preaching for a l-o-n-g time.

So, dump Windows? For some tasks, maybe – but more importantly, keep an Open Mind to what’s out there!
