Funny. A lot of companies have “dress codes”.

  • No jeans.
  • No running shoes.
  • No t-shirts with wild logos or inappropriate quotes.

Business casual will do.

After all, we must maintain a certain “corporate image”.

But ask them what their “password policy” is for their users, and…crickets. Nothing.

At the most, some may enforce a certain password strength through their network directory policies, but that will certainly not affect all applications, certainly not the external ones that users must work with.

Consider also the IT department: all those passwords for

  • Windows servers
  • Telecom equipment
  • Linux servers
  • Databases
  • Etc

In a lot of cases, too many people know these passwords; what happens when someone who had access to all of these leaves the organization? Well, to be safe, these would need to be changed. ALL of them!

What if you had a solution that allowed users to store their passwords in a safe environment? So safe, in fact, that even the system’s administrator couldn’t access their passwords, and there were no “back doors” at all!

What if you could create “safeboxes” of passwords, and share those with only the people who needed access to these credentials? So that if one of your telecom engineers left, you would only have to change the passwords to the equipment he had access to? And you could actually report on exactly which passwords he had access to?

What if the solution had an easy-to-use web interface, so that all users in the organization could store their passwords there? And that included a mobile version, so that users could access passwords from their phones? What if it could also generate complex passwords for them, too?

And finally, what if this solution shipped in the form of a virtual appliance, that you just dropped into your hyper-visor and were ready to go in about an hour?

Oh, and yes – this solution is on-premise, so your enterprise passwords never leave your network!

With a solution like that, you could actually enforce a corporate password policy, such as this one, created by the SANS Institute.

Think about it: ONE DAY, solution and policy in place. Done!
